ACA is now accepting nominations for its 2nd annual “Arms Control Person of the Year” Award! We are looking for nominees who were pivotal in achieving a substantial arms control-related success during 2008; who took some political or personal risk in doing so; and whose good deed(s) were not negated by some other action or development.
Last year's winners were U.S. Congressmen Peter Visclosky (D-Ind.) and David Hobson (R-Ohio). Due largely to their efforts, Congress rejected the Bush administration’s proposal to fund research on a new, so-called “replacement” warhead.
Please submit your ideas for nominees, along with a short explanation of the nominee's contribution to arms control in 2008, in the comments section of this post. ACA will send out ballots after Thanksgiving.
